The 1914 Pima interviews set the legal and moral tone for the Arizona Water Settlements Act of 2004, which restored via legislative act the largest tribal water budget in North American history. 

David H. DeJong, PhD, is the Director of the Pima-Maricopa Irrigation Project on the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona.

Join Legal Studies for the annual Law in Motion Keynote Address. This year the keynote speaker is Hisotiran Elizabeth Fenn, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Encounters at the Heart of the World: A Hisotry of the Mandan Peoples. 

Encounters at the Heart of the World tells the story of North Dakota's Mandan Indians. Widely known for hosting Lewis and Clark during the winter of 1804-05, the Mandans proved resilient and adaptable in the face of challenges that included epidemics of smallpox and whooping cough and invasions of Norway rats.
