TGS Commons wins Award for Proper Rehabilitation/Restoration

Modified: June 10, 2016

The Graduate School Commons underwent a renovation project to create an adaptive reuse of the old library space. The architecture group, Weese Langley Weese, and the contractor, WB Olson, have been presented with the Award for Proper Rehabilitation/Restoration by the 2016 Evanston Preservation & Design Awards.

The stained glass windows, lighting, pews, and second floor mezzanine provide a lovely setting for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to study and access the space for gatherings, events, and a variety of programs.  The space is well-appointed, comfortable, and fitted with the latest smart room technologies, such as a smart podium, electrical outlets underneath the pews, and AV equipment with the capacity to videoconference with the Chicago campus.

Congratulations to the architects and contractors that worked on this project!
