Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pulmonary/Immunology

Laboratory of Dr. Alexander Misharin in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, USA, is seeking a highly motivated MD/PhD/MD-PhD to work on a project regarding the role of tissue-resident and monocyte-derived pulmonary macrophages in the development and propagation of lung fibrosis. 

The successful applicant must have strong experimental background and proven expertise in immunology, an outstanding track record of publications, great interpersonal and team-work competencies. Animal models of lung  injury and fibrosis are essential for this project and successful applicant is expected to have sufficient experience with animal models of disease, small animal surgery will be a plus. Prior experience with tissue immunophenotyping using multiparameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, nucleic acid isolation, basic molecular biology techniques along with a thorough knowledge of immune cell biology is highly desirable. Prior experience with advanced gene expression profiling techniques (PCR arrays, microarrays, NGS) and bioinformatics will be a plus. 

 The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, offers a vibrant interdisciplinary environment, with a growing systems and computational biology contingent. The position starts in or after May 2016, and is funded for several years, with an initial one year appointment and expectation of extension given satisfactory performance. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
