Modified: September 27, 2016

The Graduate School has just released its Diversity Report for 2016. This report provides an overview of progress in recruiting and retaining a diverse student body, recognized best practices across campus, and highlighted programmatic diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Below are opportunities for outreach and recruitment of diverse trainees from The Graduate School’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Please email and questions or requests to TGSDiversity@northwestern.edu

Introduction to Graduate Education at Northwestern (IGEN): November 3-4, 2016
The TGS Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host the 5th annual Introduction to Graduate Education at Northwestern (IGEN) STEM+ campus visit this fall.  We will have 42 diverse STEM+ students attending IGEN this year.  Training Grant Directors will be invited to attend a Welcome Reception on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 5:30-7:00pm at the Omni Chicago Hotel (676 N Michigan Ave, Chicago).  If you are interested in hosting a lab visit for IGEN students on Friday, November 4, 2016, please email TGSDiversity@northwestern.edu.

Recruitment of Diverse Trainees
The TGS Office of Diversity and Inclusion coordinates a variety of national diversity recruitment events annually. Please review upcoming events on our 2016-2017 recruitment calendar.  If you are interested in partnering on any diversity recruitment events or sending recruitment materials for larger conferences, please email TGSDiversity@northwestern.edu.

Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP): June 19-August 10, 2017
The TGS Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host the 32nd annual Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) next year.  SROP is an eight week summer research program for 35 to 45 diverse undergraduate juniors and seniors across all disciplines.  We encourage Training Grant Directors to volunteer as SROP faculty mentors.  Please look out for an invitation from TGS to volunteer as a 2017 SROP faculty mentor in November 2016.
