Northwestern Libraries are shifting the physical locations for two stack collections

Modified: May 26, 2016

This summer Northwestern Libraries are shifting the physical locations for two sets of stack collections: the Herskovits Library of African Studies and the Asian Studies holdings. Even if you don’t use Africana or Asian Studies materials, this shifting may affect where you find items you regularly use. Multiple towers and floors of University Library will be affected. The locations of reading rooms and public study areas are not changing.

Beginning immediately through mid-August, materials will be moving in the collection locations listed below. Please remember: During this time, all items are available on demand via NUsearch. Librarians can page and deliver materials to you or, if you prefer, help you locate them in the stacks.

THE HUMANITIES

  • Disruptions in 5 South, 4 East and 3 South
  • New Location: 4 East, 3 South and Oak Grove Library Center

HERSKOVITS LIBRARY OF AFRICAN STUDIES

  • Disruptions in 5 East, 5 South and basement locations
  • New location: 5 East, 5 South and Oak Grove Library Center

ASIAN STUDIES

  • Disruptions in 5 South and basement locations
  • New Location: 5 South

The locations noted above will undergo some disruption as materials are moved in and out. (Ear plugs will be available at the Circulation Desk.) In addition to intermittent activity in these spaces, you may see some empty shelves, but please be assured that this is only temporary as one set of materials moves out and another moves in. Some of the materials leaving these spaces will move to our Oak Grove Library Center; those items can usually be delivered within 1 business day to University Library.

Feel free to email University Libraries with your comments and concerns.
