Congratulations to the 2016 Presidential Fellows!

Modified: April 5, 2016

Dear Members of the Northwestern Community,

I am pleased to announce that the winners of the Presidential Fellowship have been selected by the Presidential Fellows committee. The Presidential Fellowship is the most prestigious fellowship awarded to graduate students at Northwestern. It is funded by the President of the University and awarded by The Graduate School. The new Fellows will be inducted into the Society of Fellows in a ceremony I will host on April 28.

The outstanding students who were chosen to receive the Presidential Fellowship in 2016 are:

  • Adebola Adeniran, Chemical and Biological Engineering
  • Robin Bartram, Sociology
  • Daniel Case, Physics and Astronomy
  • CC DuBois, Human Development and Social Policy
  • Lauren Geary, Biological Sciences (IBiS)
  • Bethany Hughes, Theatre and Drama
  • Shuang Zhang, Driskill Graduate Program in the Life Sciences
  • Justin Zullo, Performance Studies

These students were each nominated by their respective academic programs as individuals who combine outstanding intellectual or creative ability with the capacity to play an active part in the life of the Society of Fellows. Presidential Fellows participate in the Society of Fellows, which is composed of current and past Presidential Fellowship recipients. They attend quarterly Society lunches and dinners, participate in an annual retreat, lead discussions and seminars during Society gatherings, and spearhead outreach activities.

I hope you will join me in congratulating these fellowship recipients on their impressive achievement.

Sincerely,

Craig R. Bina, Ph.D.
Acting Dean of The Graduate School
Acting Associate Provost for Graduate Education
Wayne V. Jones II Professor of Geological Sciences
