BioProfessionals is pleased to present a BioOpportunites seminar on Careers in Science Policy featuring Maureen Boyle, Ph.D., Chief of the Science Policy Branch, Office of Science Policy and Communications at the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) on Monday, June 13th at 4pm in the Searle Seminar Room.  Dr. Boyle recieved her PhD training in Neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis, followed by postdoctoral training at the Allen Institute for Brain Sciences.  She was then awarded a fellowship with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy, which she carried out at the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research at NIH.  Upon completion of the AAAS fellowship, Dr. Boyle took a position as a Lead Public Health Advisor at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), where she stayed until 2014, when she returned to NIH and joined the Science Policy Branch at NIDA.

Dr. Boyle will discuss how her PhD led her to a career in Science Policy, as well as the various roles and responsibilities associated with each phase of her career thus far.  In addition to the seminar, Dr. Boyle will be available to meet one-on-one with a very limited number of students/postdocs.   If you are interested in meeting with her, please send me a brief description of your interest in science policy careers and how close you are to graduating or where you are in your job search.

RSVP to Sally McIver if you plan to attend.
