The Graduate School (TGS) New Student Orientation

The Graduate School (TGS) New Student Orientation for new graduate students will be held on Friday, September 18, from 10am-7pm. This full-day orientation will provide you with all the information you will need to thrive in your first year at Northwestern! Register to attend here. The following is the schedule for the Orientation day:

Join Dwight A. McBride, Dean of The Graduate School and Associate Provost for Graduate Education, Patricia Telles-Irvin, Vice President of Student Affairs for your official welcome to The Graduate School at Northwestern University.

Meet other new students from your program at lunch.

Break-Out Sessions (1-1:40pm, 1:45-2:30pm)

We will be offering two 40 minute time slots for you to choose what you want to find out more about!

  • Campus Tour- Guided tour by Graudate School staff of the Evanston campus.
  • The Importance of Mentoring- Find out how to make the best of your mentoring experience during your time at Northwetsern.

Meet our campus partners and get all your last minute questions answered. Looking to visit the library? Tours will be conducted at 2:30pm, 3:30pm, and 4:30pm.

TGS Involvement Fest

5-7pm
Norris University Center
East Lawn

Join us as we celebrate the beginning of the school year with a BBQ on Norris's East Lawn. Take in the views of beautiful Lake Michigan and the City of Chicago skyline. Also, walk around the Lakefill to meet a few of our graduate student organizations and community partners.
