Postdoc Position Available at the Blood Research Institute in Milwaukee, WI

Modified: February 27, 2015

The Blood Research Institute is looking for a qualified postdoctoral fellow to study the role of cohesin mutations in the acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). This project is funded, and will involve a variety of approaches including mouse models of leukemia, whole genome approaches such as RNA-seq and ChIP-seq to identify epigenetic alterations, in addition to additional techniques. Opportunities to perform translationally oriented research also exist.

The Blood Research Institute is a state-of-the-art research facility of the BloodCenter of Wisconsin (BCW) and is located next door to the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus. Post-doctoral fellows have full access to activities and educational opportunities at MCW, in addition to those provided by BCW.

Candidates must possess a Ph.D. awarded within the last 2 years, a strong background in molecular biology, and some experience with mice. Proficiency with both written and spoken English is required. Experience with next-generation sequencing approaches, hematopoiesis, and/or leukemia are desirable but not required. Two years of funding are provided initially, with the expectation that fellowships will be pursued. This is an opportunity for U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.

The post-doctoral fellow is expected to lead his/her project and to train graduate and undergraduate students and research assistants. Benefits include a stipend following the NIH guidelines, health insurance and travel support to present at national meetings.
