Humanities Without Walls Pre-doctoral Summer Workshop

Modified: October 9, 2015

The Humanities Without Walls is a consortium of humanities centers and institutes at 15 major research universities throughout the country. Their initiatives include the creation of summer workshops for pre-doctoral students in the humanities who wish to explore careers outside the traditional tenure track academic system. This workshop will instruct students in the various ways they can leverage their preexisting and developing skill sets towards the pursuit of careers in the public humanities and the private sector.

The workshop will take place in Chicago, Il mainly at the Genevieve and Wayne Gratz Center in the summer of 2016. All applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral degree-granting program in a humanities discipline at one of the HWW consortium institutions. While applicants may be at any stage of their doctoral work, they cannot have already received the doctoral degree. Each fellow will receive a $4,500 stipend intended to cover travel to and from the summer workshop, housing, most meals, and all incidentals.

Applications and Letters of Recommendation should be submitted to the online portal by November 1st, 2015, at 5:00pm CDT. Four finalists will be chosen from the Northwestern applicants, and nominated to Humanities Without Walls by December 1st, 2015.
