Graduate Assistant Opportunity with NU's Office of Residential Academic Initiatives

Modified: July 7, 2015

The Office of Residential Academic Initiatives (ORAI) is seeking to hire a part-time Graduate Assistant for the 2015-16 academic year. The position averages 10 hours per week and, with an annual stipend of $10,560, which could round out the funding needs of graduate students at different stages of degree progress. Candidates must plan on spending all three quarters on campus, but occasional short-term absences for research and conference travel are fine if arranged in advance.

The substance of the job should appeal to a wide range of graduate students and would enhance any c.v. for tenure-track or “alt-ac” positions in the future. The ORAI GA advances student learning in Northwestern’s residential college program by participating in programming, organizing student leader training, collaborating with fellow graduate students who serve as Assistant Masters in the residential colleges, and facilitating assessment of learning outcomes.

Within the ORAI suite at 2122 Sheridan Road, there is a dedicated work station with a PC and lockable drawers, which the GA can use for ORAI business and personal academic work. The full position description and application is available at http://www.northwestern.edu/living/students/jobs/ga-orai/index.html.

The Office of Residential Academic Initiatives is eager to fill this position before their programs get underway after Labor Day. Friday, July 17 is the preferred deadline for applications but they will accept applications until the position is filled.

Interested graduate students who have questions about the position may contact Associate Director Nancy Anderson at n-anderson@northwestern.edu or 847-491-2233
