ComSciCon Science Communication Workshop for Graduate Students This Summer

Modified: April 3, 2015

Northwestern graduate students are invited to apply to attend the Communicating Science (ComSciCon-Chicago) workshop. The ComSciCon workshop series is designed to empower graduate students to communicate the complex concepts arising in science, engineering, and other technical fields to diverse audiences.

ComSciCon-Chicago will be held at Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center on the weekend of August 15th-16th, 2015. A stellar program of events is planned for the two full days of the workshop. Attendees will interact with fellow graduate student leaders in science communication, learn from expert writers and communicators including journalists, communication researchers, and scientists, and will produce original writing for publication.

Attendees will be selected through a competitive application process. The application for the workshop is now open and will close on May 1st. There will be no cost or fee to graduate student attendees, but only a limited number of spots are available.

This workshop will be held in collaboration with Northwestern University’s The Graduate School, McCormick School of Engineering, Department of Materials Science/Materials Science Umbrella Society, Interdisciplinary Biological Sciences Program, and Ready-Set-Go, as well as with The University of Chicago’s Graduate Student Council and Biological Sciences Division Dean’s Council. ComSciCon-Chicago is organized by graduate students from Northwestern University and The University of Chicago.
