Modified: December 7, 2015

December 9, 5:30-7 PM
Parkes Hall #222

After receiving his doctoral degree in Theatre & Drama, John moved into a career as a consultant and researcher at a small firm that advertises arts and cultural institutions around the US. John will share his experience transitioning from a PhD Program to a non-academic career, discuss opportunities for researchers outside of academia, and answer questions.

John Carnwath is a consultant at WolfBrown. His work primarily focuses on arts funding, cultural policy, and related issues of measurement and evaluation. Recent projects include the design of a national benchmark of foundation support for individual artists (client: Grantmakers in the Arts), a literature review on the cultural value and intrinsic impacts of the arts (Arts Council England), and an assessment of the cultural community’s support and needs in Austin, TX (City of Austin). Outside of his work for WolfBrown, John serves on the editorial team for the arts research blog Createquity. Previously, John worked for the Chicago Artists resource and served as the Dean of the Chicago chapter of the Awesome Foundation.
