Applications Now Available for the Fall 2015 Graduate Engagement Opportunities Community Practicum

Modified: April 17, 2015

Graduate Engagement Opportunities (GEO) is a quarter-long program that combines a personalized community internship with a graduate seminar on engaged scholarship.

Earn course credit while you:

  • Develop or apply your research at a civic, cultural, or non-profit organization
  • Gain skills for academic and non-academic jobs
  • Explore civic engagement in an interdisciplinary seminar

A GEO participant in Fall 2012 said of the program: "Participating in GEO allowed me to explore the intersections between my scholarship and my passion for civic and social issues. GEO has been one of the most foundational components of my graduate education thus far."

To learn more, and to apply, please visit www.engage.northwestern.edu/geo. Early deadline is Sunday, May 31st; late deadline is Sunday, June 21st. Applications are considered on a rolling basis; late applications will be considered if space permits.

With the support of The Graduate School, TGS Ph.D. students may use one quarter of fellowship funding to participate in this program. Many departments have also waived teaching and/or research assistantship duties for participating students.
