The seventh-year graduate student is part of both the Science and Human Culture cluster and the British Studies cluster; a Faculty Fellow in the Slivka Residential College; a recipient of grants from both the Social Science Research Council and the National Science Foundation; and a dramaturg for a 2012 Mainstage production of The Bluest Eye.

TGS Suspends Dissertation Embargo Policy

Last year, The Graduate School introduced a policy on embargoes intended to balance graduate students' ability to protect their work and the responsibility of institutions to share new knowledge. A dissertation embargo allows a student to delay public release of his or her dissertation via ProQuest's digital platform for a specified period of time in light of valid concerns about the protection of intellectual property.

During the time you are registered at the University, you are required to enroll in the Aetna/Northwestern plan. You may waive enrollment by providing evidence that you have health insurance coverage that is comparable for the entire period of registration. International students holding a F1 or J1 visa may not waive the Aetna/Northwestern plan.

Spotlight On: Stacey Finley, Chemical and Biological Engineering Alumna and Gabilan Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC)

Stacey Finley knew she was interested in science from an early age. “I did science projects with my dad,” she said, “and I enjoyed asking questions about the things I was seeing around me every day, so I did small experiments to try to answer those questions.” As a PhD alumna of Northwestern’s Chemical and Biological Engineering program, and now as the Gabilan Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC), Stacey is still asking questions about the world around her.
